Recommendations for use
Before first use, remove all packaging components and labels. Wash the product with hot soapy water, rinse and dry completely.
Our cast iron products are suitable for all heat sources: ceramic, induction, electric, gas, radiant or open fire, as well as ovens of any type up to 750º F / 400º C (except microwave), wood or coal stoves, pizza ovens, outdoor grills, or smokers (be prepared to clean it).
The cookware should be heated gradually without reaching excessive temperatures, to achieve uniform and effective cooking. Always use oil, fat or butter on the inside cooking surface to reduce sticking.
Since cast iron has a high heat retention capability, it will continue to heat up after flame removal, especially if it is heated too rapidly. The best results are obtained with medium or slow heat-up and cooking at medium or low temperatures to avoid burning the contents to the enameled surface.
When cooking on an open fire or in a wood-fired pizza oven, move the pot away from the intense heat source to avoid overheating the food. It is recommended to place the cookware on a lifting tray or grill to encourage uniform heating on all sides.
Vitreous enamel is a non-porous glass finish that covers all the surfaces of your pot or pan including the rim. Beyond cooking on the stove and in the oven, the enameled surface works great for marinating foods in the refrigerator, or even storing foods in the freezer.
Product care
Each cast iron piece is made in an individual sand mold and finished using a number of hand processes. Each piece is unique and may contain slight variations in surface finish. These variations are part of the charm and quality of the product and will not adversely affect performance.
On ceramic glass cook tops, do not slide the base of the cookware over the surface to avoid damage to the pot or the glass cook top.
Never use cast iron or metal cookware in a microwave oven. It may damage your oven.
To achieve maximum efficiency, match the burner size to the size of the pot or pan. When using direct fire (like gas burners), flames should touch only the base of the cookware, never reaching to the side walls.
Avoid placing handles so that they protrude from the cook top.
Avoid placing handles so that they are above or near another burner.
Cast iron handles or the stainless knobs can reach high temperatures when on the cook top or inside the oven. Always use oven mitts or potholders to move the pan.
Use two hands to lift and arrange your cookware as the pots are solid and can be heavy when full.
If the knob becomes loose, please re-tighten it to avoid any possibility of dropping the lid.
To protect the enameled surface, using wood or heat-resistant plastic utensils is recommended. Metal utensils should be used with care to avoid scratching the enameled surface. Do not hit the utensils against the edge of the pan, as they may chip the enamel. Avoid the use of blenders or other electrical devices. Avoid cutting food with knives or other metal utensils inside the pot.
Do not drop your cookware, it may damage whatever it hits or damage the cookware.
Store your cookware in a dry location. Keep lids in the upright position and do not nest cookware to avoid chipping the enamel.
Cleaning
Allow the cookware to cool before washing. Wash using soap and water and dry it completely. To remove food residues that may remain stuck, fill the pot with hot water and let it soak for 15-20 minutes. Then, wash it and rinse it in the usual way.
With continued use a film will be created on the interior surface of satin black enamel. It is recommended not to eliminate this patina in the cleaning, since it helps anti-adherence and improves the cooking process.
HearthStone Cookware products are dishwasher safe, although hand washing is recommended. Extended use of the dishwasher may dull the appearance of the enamel. This is not harmful and will not affect the performance of the cookware. When using the dishwasher, always wait for the wash cycle to be completed to allow the cookware to dry completely.
CAUTION
Do not immerse or fill a hot pot or pan with cold water, as it can result in enamel damage due to thermal shock.
Non-abrasive “Scotch-Brite” scrubbing pads, sponges and non-metallic brushes can be used to eliminate the most difficult food residues. Avoid using metal brushes, abrasive sponges or abrasive detergents, as they may scratch the enamel.
Handle your cookware with care, as hitting them can cause the enamel to chip.
