Cleaning Your Cookware

Yet another thing we love about enameled cast iron cookware is how easy it is to clean!

A couple of precautions:

  • Allow your cookware to cool before washing.

  • Thermal shock may crack the iron, so avoid plunging a hot pot into cold water or using ice cubes to scrub a hot pan.

Soak you cookware

  • Soaking helps loosen food residue.

  • Fill the pot with hot water and let it soak for 15-20 minutes.

  • Then, wash it and rinse it in the usual way.

Wash with soap and water

  • Yes, you can you a mild dish detergent to clean you cookware.

  • With continued use a film will be created on the interior surface of satin black enamel. It is recommended not to eliminate this patina in the cleaning, since it helps anti-adherence and improves the cooking process.

Scrubbing

  • Non-abrasive “Scotch-Brite” scrubbing pads work great when removing most difficult food residues.

  • Sponges work great.

  • Non-metallic brushes work great.

  • Avoid using metal brushes, abrasive sponges or abrasive detergents, as they may scratch the enamel.

Dishwasher?

  • HearthStone Cookware products are dishwasher safe, although hand washing is recommended.

  • Extended use of the dishwasher may dull the appearance of the enamel.

  • This is not harmful and will not affect the performance of the cookware.

  • When using the dishwasher, always wait for the wash cycle to be completed to allow the cookware to dry completely.
